Akilah is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Brainspotting Therapist, and Couples/Relationship Therapist.
She has received training in a variety of areas including Somatic Experiencing, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, Neuroscience, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Self-Trust and Integrated Resilience (STAIR), and Internal Family Systems Therapy.
Akilah also possesses certification in Fitness Instruction and integrates knowledge from this field in her interventions. She also has considerable experience working with marginalised communities including People Living with HIV and the LGBTQI+ community. Akilah is the author of Marginalized Couples in Therapy.

I connect to clients with an understanding of how the nervous system works, and what is required for grounding and regulation. Compassion and attunement are central features of my approach. Further to that, moment by moment, the movement of your nervous system is honored and tended to throughout the process.
